“Queenslanders have thrown their support behind our new airline and our Brisbane-Bali services launched last year,” said Strategic Airlines Head of Commercial Damien Vasta. “So much so we are thrilled to add Thailand to our network complementing our new twice-weekly Brisbane to Townsville and Bali services starting next month,” he said.

Strategic cease Port Hedland to Bali service

Strategic airlines www.flystrategic.com has withdrawed from operating Port Hedland to Bali direct service from the end of March, 2011 due to constraints preventing the commercial viability of the services.
“This has been a difficult decision and one we have not taken lightly, especially as these flights had been popular with the local community taking advantage of a direct route to Bali,” said Head of Commercial Damien Vasta. “Due to infrastructure constraints at the airport that impact on the efficiency of border control processing, we are prevented from selling any more than 100 seats per flight on our 156 seat aircraft.
“We were aware of this mandatory cap on capacity at the time we commenced flying the route but were confident infrastructure improvements could be made to accommodate greater international passengers numbers through the airport,” he said. “Unfortunately after a six month review we understand this is not possible at this point in time, therefore regrettably it is no longer commercially viable to continue to dedicate the aircraft to this route, “ he said. “This decision will not impact our Port Hedland to Brisbane domestic services. Those flights will continue to operate with improved arrival and departure times to suit the resources sector,” he said. Strategic Airlines introduced its direct Port Hedland-Denpasar flights on 3 August, 2010. Pending a review of the services, the airline recently suspended taking web site bookings beyond 23 March, 2011 so as to minimise any inconvenience related to potential cancellation.
The airline’s last Port Hedland to Bali flight will operate on 22 March, 2011, returning 23 March 2011. Flights on the route are operated by an Airbus A320 equipped with 12 business class and 144 economy seats.

Strategic Airlines and its travel agency partners will contact any passengers whose bookings may be affected by the change. The airline will be offering a full refund on any fares booked on flights beyond 23 March, 2011.

Korean Air flights Seoul to las Vegas

Since Korean Air’s inaugural flight touched down at McCarran International Airport on Sept. 22, 2006, its thrice-weekly flights use boeing 777 to fly between Las Vegas and Seoul, flight number KE005 KE006, South Korea has become the seventh-largest source of international travel to Southern Nevada. Residents of other Asian nations – including China, Japan and Taiwan – also regularly take advantage of Korean Air’s extensive network of flights that provide one-stop service through the airline’s modern and expansive hub at Seoul Incheon International Airport.

Looking forward, it’s our hope that more North American travelers, from Las Vegas as well as other nearby cities, will recognize this great resource and plan their future trips across the Pacific by way of Korean Air through McCarran.”

International travelers also spend approximately $950 per trip, or close to $400 more than the average Las Vegas visitor. Foreign visitors also typically remain in town for 4.4 days, nearly one fullday longer than others, according to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority. "Las Vegas is a key market for Korean Air,” said John Jackson, Korean Air’s Americas Marketing Director. “Not only is it a tourist destination for Asians, but Las Vegas benefits customers in the western United States who have another gateway option to Asia. In addition, passengers from China and Southeast Asia fly Korean Air and connect in Korea to fly to Las Vegas.”

Jackson added that within the last year, Korean Air has seen an increase in traffic from Korea to Las Vegas due to the U.S./Korean Visa Waiver program. McCarran has far fewer international flights than many western U.S. airports, which means its facilities – most notably its international security checkpoint and U.S. Customs and Border Protection port at Terminal 2 – are frequently less crowded than those found at other gateway airports. Many nearby U.S. cities including Albuquerque, N.M.; Denver and Reno offer no direct-to-Asia service.

Check-in machines at Stockholm airport bus station

passengers flying from Stockholm Arlanda Airport with Finnair, Höga Kusten, Iceland Air, Norwegian or SAS can now check as soon as they get to the waiting area at the Cityterminalen bus station in central Stockholm. Air France and KLM will also have check-in machines available soon.
“Because more and more people are choosing to take public transport to the airport, we want to make the trip simpler and smoother for passengers by offering check-in and other services even at bus stops and train stations,” Thomas Cassel adds.
Stockholm Arlanda’s check-in machines at Cityterminalen in central Stockholm are another step to make travel easier for the airport’s passengers. Check-in machines have already been set up in all the airport terminals, in a long-term parking facility and the Stockholm central train station.“By checking in right at the Cityterminalen bus station and getting your boarding card and baggage tags, it is simply a matter of leaving your bag at the drop-off counter at Stockholm Arlanda and going through the security checkpoint. Since both passengers and the airport are prepared, the process is faster and the waiting time shorter,” says Thomas Cassel, Head of Commercial and Terminal Business at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, Swedavia.

The Self Service Check-in machines are now being rolled out, and the number of airlines that can be accessed with the machines continues to increase.

Stockholm Arlanda’s check-in machines

Stockholm Arlanda’s check-in machines are fully automated check-in counters. Passengers select the airline they are flying with and follow instructions on a touch screen to get their boarding card and baggage tags printed out.

After arriving at the airport, passengers simply have to drop off their baggage and continue through the security checkpoint to their gate.

The number of check-in machines continues to grow. Today, people can check in at every terminal at Stockholm Arlanda Airport, the Alfa long-term parking facility, the Airport Conference Centre in Sky City, the Arlanda Express platform area in the Stockholm Central train station and the Cityterminalen bus station in Stockholm.

It is through the feedback from our users that has made KSIA achieve so much in such a short space of time but there is always room for improvement, said Colin Naidoo, Communications Manager for KSIA. “We will continue to solicit information from our users through our quarterly service standards surveys and it is through results that we can improve our service or celebrate our achievements on that critical feedback.”
