Vision And Power Wins the Emirates Doncaster Mile
18th April 2009 - Vision And Power has continued to thrive, winning the $AUS 2,000,000 Emirates Doncaster Mile at the AJC Autumn Racing Carnival at Randwick Racecourse in Sydney, Australia on Saturday. The Joe Pride-trained Vision And Power has been the surprise packet of the season and the six-year-old, ridden by Jim Cassidy, came from behind to overcome a strong field and secure the Group One victory on Emirates Doncaster Day. The Emirates Doncaster Mile is for three-year-olds and upwards and is run over 1,600 metres. Emirates is naming sponsor of the race and premier partner of the Autumn Racing Carnival. The race was named after the famous racecourse in the north of England, and has been run at Royal Randwick since1866. The race has been won by many of the best gallopers ever to race in Australia. Off the track, Emirates was again the premier social venue, hosting Sydney’s social set, VIP guests and media, with its world renowned first class experience in an opulent Austrian themed marquee. The AJC Autumn Racing Carnival concludes next Saturday, April 25th, with the Schweppes Sydney Cup Day, featuring the Emirates Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
